The README information and patches to older versions remain here for
hysterical raisins, but no more work will be done on these patches.
Please get the latest version of GNU make (see above).
make which modifies the default
behavior of the VPATH/vpath feature. Although the default
behavior is correct according to the documentation, and duplicates the
behavior of the variant of make it's modeled after, it is
not intuitive in many respects.
The VPATH+ patch makes a small change to VPATH so that it acts more "as you expect".

the problem and the algorithm change introduced by the VPATH+ patch is
